Location
It is important to consider in what location your school is in. The United States is a big country and differs a lot from place to place. For example rent and cost of living is usually more expensive in the big cities on the east coast or west coast. While the Midwest and South is less expensive to live in.

Academics

Remember to check if the school you are interested in attending have your degree and how good your program is. A good idea could be to check out the academic ranking (which we will put on our blog) of your school.

Athletic Program

It’s also wise to check out the universities team, what level they are, how many players they have and etc. Try to go to the schools website to check out their athletic facilities. It’s important that you like what you see because you will hopefully be spending 4 years in that school to get your degree.

Athletic Scholarship

Make sure you find out how much you have to pay every semester before you attend the school! If you will have to pay rent and housing ask how much the rent is in the schools are so you can calculate your costs prior attending. It’s not always wise to choose the school that is giving you the most in athletic scholarship. Sometimes it’s better to pay a little and have a better college experience.

So the general point is making sure you done proper research before choosing your school. There is nothing worse than going to a school and then realizing that you have made a mistake. So preparation is the key!

If you have any questions regarding college athletics or athletic scholarships feel free to join our college sports recruiting forum and ask your question

There are many opportunities out the there for runners who wants to study with a cross country scholarship. To obtain a cross country scholarship for an international runner it is important to have good times recorded in competitive surroundings.

Coaches don’t look at your description of how good you run, they want statistics from a tournament. So if you want to get recruited with a cross country scholarship, you need to refer the college coach to a website where it shows the coach how you performed in a specific tournament.

Golf scholarships are a great opportunity for young golfers to continue playing golf in a high level while still going to school. For strong golf players the chances to receive a full golf scholarship are relatively good. It is really important to have a strong presentation video if you are looking for a golf scholarship. `

Very few universities have golf courses in their campus so college golf teams often practice on local courses that are in a close proximity to the campus. The practice varies from school to school but many golf players improve a lot playing college golf. The golf season begins in the spring term (January) and goes on trough the semester.

For a larger chance to obtain a golf scholarship, ICAC recommends students to apply and attend school for the fall semester (August). This is because many universities have already filled their team in spring and the golf scholarships available are limited. It’s also an advantage to have been with the team of your university from the beginning of the year. A college golf team have around 12 players.

The level of college basketball is very high in USA. After the NBA, the college basketball playoff could be the highest level of basketball in the world. To be able to play college basketball with an basketball scholarship you have to be one of the best basketball players of your age group in your country. Basketball is one of the toughest sports in college athletics and you must be willing to work hard and compete for your place in the team to earn your basketball scholarship.

While in many other sports the level is higher internationally, basketball is the sport where the level in USA is higher than any other countries. That’s why college coaches are not looking to recruit international basketball players as actively as they do in other sports. That makes it harder for international basketball players to get recruited with an athletic scholarship. Lately there has been an increase of international basketball players in college basketball, mostly thanks to the good success of the current international basketball players.

Click on the link and register with us if you want to know more of how ICAC can help you obtain a basketball scholarship.

The college basketball season begins in the middle of the fall term (august) and universities often only accept players to enter in august. However you often have to attend the summer pre season training.

Universities in USA have a long tradition in Track & Field athletics. It’s a very popular sport in College and the top level is very high. The opportunity to receive a track and field scholarship is a great chance for international athletes. To pursue a professional career in track & field is very though financially. By competing for an American University you will receive world class training and at the same time an education. The track & field scholarship covers your living expenses and your education fees.

Track and Field Scholarships

Around 1000 different universities and colleges participate in Track & Field athletics. Many track & field athletes become successful professional athletes after their college career. To be able to compete in top NCAA Track & Field level, you should be one of the best in your age group in your country. Of course there are also other universities and divisions where you can receive a track & field scholarship and with the level being less competitive.

Each Track & Field University team have around 12 track & field scholarships to offer for the Men’s team, while they have 18 track & field scholarships for the Women’s team.
In general, five practice sessions a week of 2 – 3 hours each is something you can expect when attending a university as track & field athlete, but of course this varies between the different colleges and coaches.

Track and Field season begins in spring (January). We recommend students to apply for a track & field scholarship early so they are ready to attend the university in August. This is so you already are part of the team from the beginning of the season.

ICAC is proud to announce that we will be starting an educational blog. This blog will be about our core topic, college athletic recruiting and athletic scholarships. We will provide insights and information on different college sports and how to obtain an athletic scholarship. We will also invite other student athletes to write about their experience in college athletics and to give advice to future student athletes.

Our goal is for our readers to interact with the articles they are reading with comments and posting on the forum and to further discuss their questions. We will also be covering tips in taking SAT and TOEFL and other essential recruiting information.

We will kick off the blog next week with going over all the sports that offer sport scholarships in American Universities. We are going to go over a brand new sport every 2 days and we will start off with discussing Track & Field scholarships on Monday.

Have a great weekend and see you back next week,
